Working with us
Mam Architects is a boutique London-based architectural studio dedicated to creating refined private homes, interiors and high-end residential developments. We work with clients who value thoughtful design, careful detail and architecture that feels personal, enduring and deeply connected to its setting.
Our approach begins with listening. We take time to understand how people live, what they need from a home, and how each space should feel, function and evolve. Rather than applying a fixed style, we respond to the character of the site, the rhythm of daily life, the client’s aspirations, and the quiet qualities that give a place its atmosphere.
We are interested in architecture that feels calm, elegant and assured. Natural light, proportion, material texture, framed views, and the relationship between inside and outside are central to our work. From the scale of a room to the touch of a handrail, every detail is considered as part of a wider sensory experience.
Alongside private residential projects, we also work with developers on high-quality residential schemes where design value, planning strategy and commercial awareness are equally important. We believe developer-led housing can be distinctive, contextual and carefully crafted, while still being practical, viable and efficient to deliver.
From early feasibility and planning through to technical design and construction, we guide clients through a clear, collaborative process. We aim to create buildings and interiors that are beautiful, functional and lasting; places that feel grounded, meaningful and genuinely improve everyday life.
Working around the UK & beyond
Although our practice is in London, we want to do more of the same, and for the right client and project, we work up and down the country and further afield.
We love seeing and designing in new places!
Process
-
The Concept Design stage is where the vision for the project begins to take form. We start by listening carefully, taking the time to understand your priorities, identify any overlooked opportunities, visit the site, and gather the necessary surveys and background information. This allows us to build a clear understanding of the project’s context and establish a strong foundation for the design.
We place particular importance on each client’s individual interests, lifestyle, and aspirations. Our role is to balance aesthetics, ergonomics, practicality, technology, and ease of living, shaping each residence around the way it will be experienced day to day. This includes everything from creating spaces that feel natural and enjoyable to use, to considering how the home can be maintained, serviced, and supported as discreetly and efficiently as possible.
From this process, we develop a cohesive design proposal that captures the character and potential of your home in a thoughtful, refined, and carefully considered way.

We combine creative ambition with a practical understanding of how projects are delivered. From the outset, we consider the flow, atmosphere, furnishing, and overall experience of a space, while remaining closely aware of planning requirements, procurement, cost, and construction feasibility.
At this stage, we develop the architectural proposals into a more detailed set of drawings and supporting documents, ensuring they respond clearly to local planning policy, site constraints, and the wider context.
Where required, we coordinate with specialist consultants, such as heritage, ecology, transport, or other relevant advisors, to ensure the planning application is well considered, comprehensive, and robust.
Our design approach is thoughtful and exploratory, rather than predetermined. The appearance and atmosphere of each project emerge through careful architectural study, shaped by the site, the client’s aspirations, and the character of the home. Our aim is to create spaces that are not only resolved and practical, but also enjoyable, distinctive, and deeply personal.

Once planning approval has been secured, we develop the design into detailed technical information ready for construction.
A full review of the planning conditions is completed. A comprehensive plan on the information required to discharge them is created, and relevant consultants are appointed to assist with the process.
At this stage, we work closely with the client to refine each element of the proposal, preparing comprehensive drawings and specifications that set out materials, finishes, fittings, and key construction details.
We also prepare the information required for Building Regulations approval and coordinate with relevant Consultants, including structural and mechanical engineers, where necessary.
The result is a clear and fully developed information pack that can be accurately priced by contractors and used as the basis for a well-organised and efficient construction process.
During the construction phase, we remain closely involved to help ensure the design is delivered with accuracy and attention to detail. We work with the contractor, responding to site queries and reviewing progress on site. Additional drawings or clarification may be requested by the contractor, which we will provide to ensure the project remains aligned with the original design intent.
Our role as contract administrators during the construction stage is to support both the client and the contractor throughout the build, offering clear guidance, considered oversight, and continuity until the home is complete and ready to be handed over.
